Paladin in Forever

Paladin is Forever’s hybrid class: one tree heals a group, one tanks with a shield, and one fights in melee, and a single character can only train one of the three at a time. It was also the class Blizzard chose to demonstrate the Forever class rework in full at BlizzCon, so more of its talent trees and baseline kit is documented than for any other class right now.

The three specs:

  • Holy heals through direct casts backed by Holy Shock and Light’s Vigil, with mana sustain built around Reverence and Illumination.
  • Protection tanks with a shield, using Seal of Fury’s Judgement as a ranged taunt and Holy Shield for block uptime and threat.
  • Retribution fights in melee off Seal-based procs and Judgement, weaving in a Hammer of Wrath execute once a target is low.

Undead Paladin is confirmed as one of Blizzard’s six new race and class pairs, giving the Horde a Paladin option it never had in 1.12. Paladin is not open to Skyborne at all on either faction — the class’s only three playable races remain Human, Dwarf, and the new Undead, all checked directly against this build’s own race and class combination table.

Several baseline changes apply across all three specs. Holy Strike returns at level 6 as a trainable attack rather than a talent, and Judgement no longer consumes whichever Seal is active, removing the constant re-casting that Seals demanded in 1.12. Consecration is baseline at level 20 instead of gated behind Protection, and Blessing of Kings moved from a talent to something every Paladin trains. Seal of Fury is new: a tanking Seal whose Judgement taunts at a longer range than other tanks get. Talent trees keep 1.12’s seven rows and 51 points, but Forever adds a fourth one-point milestone talent at 16 points alongside the ones at 11, 21, and 31, and several talents that used to exist only to unlock a group buff are baseline abilities now, freeing tree space for talents that change how each spec actually plays.

The beta only runs to level 30, so none of this is tested at the level and raid content Paladins will actually play at launch — see each spec guide’s Overview for what’s confirmed versus projected. The Holy, Protection, and Retribution guides below cover talent priorities, rotation, stats, and gear for each tree.
