Shaman covers two damage trees built on totems and elemental magic and one dedicated healing tree, all of them leaning on the totem system for group support regardless of spec. Elemental builds around Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Flame Shock, backed by Lava Burst, a high-damage nuke new to the tree. Enhancement builds around melee weapon attacks empowered by weapon imbues and Stormstrike, backed by Maelstrom Weapon, a new talent that lets melee hits stack a discount on the next Lightning Bolt. Restoration builds around Healing Wave and totem-based group sustain, backed by Water Shield, a new mana-return mechanic, and Riptide, a new instant heal-and-HoT capstone.

612.4 DPS at 60, this setRead the guideShaman’s biggest structural change in Forever isn’t a new talent — it’s a new race. Dwarf Shaman is one of Blizzard’s six confirmed new race and class pairings, and it’s the first time the class has been available to the Alliance at all; every other Shaman race remains Horde-only. Shaman is also the one class where the Skyborne split by faction: this site’s own combo data confirms Shaman is playable by the Windshaper Skyborne on the Horde, but not by the High Order Skyborne on the Alliance.
What changed from 1.12 beyond the new pairing: talent trees still run seven rows deep with 51 total points, but Forever slots in an extra one-point capstone-style pick at the 16-point mark, joining the three that classic builds already had at 11, 21 and 31. Reading the same demo trees, one outlet counted 15 Shaman talents as brand new, 25 as reworked, and just 10 as untouched from 1.12 — the smallest unchanged count of any class besides Warlock. At the baseline level, both Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning shave half a second off their cast times before a single talent point is spent, Ghost Wolf’s base cast drops to 2 seconds, and Fire Nova turns into an instant-cast spell that detonates around wherever your active Fire totem is standing, rather than being a totem of its own. Two totem-management tools nobody had before, Totemic Projection and Call of the Elements, also join the baseline kit. Folding melee and spell hit and crit into one rating apiece counts as a sizeable indirect buff for Enhancement in particular, since it used to have to itemize for both kinds of hit chance at once.
Everything above the beta’s level-30 cap, including how any of this plays at 60 or in a raid, is a projection from demo-tree data and 1.12 knowledge rather than confirmed play — see each spec guide’s Overview for what’s confirmed versus projected.
