Priest in Forever

Priest covers both of the game’s dedicated healing trees and its one shadow-magic damage tree, and Forever hasn’t changed that split: Discipline and Holy heal, Shadow deals damage. What has changed is how much baseline kit every Priest carries into a raid or a level-up quest regardless of spec — several abilities that used to be locked behind a specific race’s racial trait or deep into the Shadow tree are now available to every Priest from the start.

Discipline builds around shields, cost reduction, and Penance, a new channeled spell that can either mend a friendly target or scorch a hostile one. Holy builds around raw throughput healing and efficiency talents like Prayer of Mending, a jumping heal new to the tree. Shadow builds around damage-over-time uptime and Mind Blast, backed by Shadow Word: Death as a new execute-style nuke and Devouring Plague as a normal spell rather than a race-locked one.

Blizzard’s Deep Dive confirmed Gnome Priest as one of six entirely new race and class pairings coming to Forever. Priest is not available to the Skyborne on either faction — this site’s own combo data confirms no Priest and Skyborne pairing exists, matching what the community reporting on Skyborne’s class list already said.

What changed from 1.12 beyond the new pairing: talent trees still run seven rows deep with 51 total points, but Forever slots in an extra one-point capstone-style pick at the 16-point mark, joining the three classic builds already had at 11, 21 and 31. Reading the same demo trees, one outlet counted 14 Priest talents as brand new, 27 as reworked, and 12 as untouched from 1.12. At the baseline-kit level, every Priest now carries Fear Ward on a 3-minute cooldown, a spell that used to belong only to Dwarves, and every Priest can cast Devouring Plague as an ordinary Shadow spell that reaches its third rank by the demo’s level 38, rather than it staying locked to Undead characters. Each race’s Priest-flavored spells got their own overhaul on top of that: Humans picked up a brand-new heal called Divine Grace, Gnomes picked up two entirely new abilities in Confounding Flash and Contingency Plan, and several other races saw their existing Priest racials retuned in value or effect. Gear’s bonus-healing stat also now grants a slice of bonus damage alongside it, and starts showing up as early as level 10 — clearly meant to help healers who solo quest.

Everything above the beta’s level-30 cap, including how any of this plays at 60 or in a raid, is a projection from demo-tree data and 1.12 knowledge rather than confirmed play — see each spec guide’s Overview for what’s confirmed versus projected. Spec-by-spec detail, including talent priority, rotation, and stat weights, is linked below.
